One year ago today I embarked on a nine month journey around the world with 20 wonderful humans. As I reflect on the year as a Field Advisor for the Winterline Gap Year program, what stands out the most is the people. The young folks that I traveled the world with are so unique and amazing and now they have all scattered, they are taking the world with them as they embark on their adult lives.
Winterline was a year as full as any year could be. We introduced ourselves in Colorado, harvested papaya and jackfruit in Costa Rica, kayaked under the beating sun in Panama, studied the art of Thai massage in Thailand, sewed our own clothes in Cambodia, made documentaries in India, Created mosaics in Italy, programmed robots in Austria, learned how to dress for a gala in the Czech Republic, constructed a tiny home in Germany, created our own start-up businesses in Boston, and created packfuls and packfuls of memories that we’ve stowed away and will carry with us forever.
My message to Winterline students: Life is an adventure. Remember that this was merely the beginning of yours.
